Role: CREATIVE DIRECTOR + PRODUCER

A photo story celebrating acrylic nails as a symbol of empowerment for Black women. Nail art dates back to ancient Egypt where queens Nefertiti and Cleopatra used henna to dye their nails. During their respective reigns they used nail color show societal hierarchy - the more vibrant the red, the more power the person possessed. Through the years Black women have used nail art as a form of expression, and have spearheaded the current trend of acrylic nails.

Concept by New York based producer Cortney Watson, who enlisted a team of creatives from her hometown of Baltimore, Maryland to realize her vision.
